General Pest Control – German Cockroaches

German cockroaches have certainly been on the rise over the last 12 months
and we have seen an increase in treatments.
The German cockroach is relatively small, but is probably the most widespread and successful cockroach that coexists with humans in buildings. The German cockroach is the most prolific breeder of all the pest cockroaches, taking as little as 40 days to develop from hatchling to adulthood. The egg cases are normally carried by the female and contain 30-40 eggs; generally there may be 3-4 generations a year.
The German cockroach is amber coloured with two dark stripes on Pronotum. Grow to 1.2-1.5CM long. Have wings but don’t fly. They spread disease by transfer and in excreta.
The German cockroach seeks conditions that provide warmth, moisture & food.
The vast majority of infestations are associated with kitchens or other
food-handling areas, both at home or commercial facilities. If you see German cockroaches in non food-handling areas, it is likely that the dwelling is supporting an enormous population.
The German cockroach will eat almost any organic material found from bread & food crumbs to built-up grease. If water is available, the adult may survive up to a month without food.
The treatment for the German cockroach will involve us investigating to find the source and start treatment; this is followed by another two treatments over a month. If they are still lurking, another full treatment maybe required.
There are some horrific stories out there, but it does not have to be like that.
After talking to our professional pest control technicians, it doesn’t take long to get the job done right and you will have peace of mind.
